The Great Wall in China

some funny Facts About The Great Wall in China

If all the Great walls built in the different dynasties around northern China are included, the total length would exceed 50,000 kilometers (31,000 miles). The Great Wall of China is the longest man-made structure in the world. The length of all Chinese defense walls built over the last 2,000 years is approximately 31,070 miles (50,000 km). Earth’s circumference is 24,854 miles (40,000 km). Most of the walls built in the early historical periods are damaged or in a state of decay. Now only the one built in the Ming Dynasty is comparatively well preserved. So, the Great Wall we mention today is the Ming Great Wall which is in total 12,000 li (6,000 kilometres). However, this figure is based only on historical records, and, as a matter of fact, in some places double or triple walls were built. With its meanderings and loops the actual extent of the structure might be even longer. At present, the China Great Wall has already lost its military function, and many sections have been repaired and opened to the public. Among them, Badaling is the most famous and greatest which receives the most visitors from home and abroad. Mutianyu is famous for its spectacular scenery, Jinshanling and Simatai are well known for the wildness and cragginess, and Jiankou is attracted by its dangerous location. Due to these varieties, it’s no wonder that Great Wall is the most welcomed scenic sight in China.
