There are a number of travel water purifiers being sold in the market nowadays. These water purifiers use different types of technologies such as distillation, ionization, carbon absorption, filtration, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet (UV) radiation and others. Cheongsam

Cheongsam is one type of traditional Chinese female costumes. It is featured by stand collar, right side opening, fitting waist and slip bottom, which can fully set off the beauty of the female shape.Derived from the garment of bannermen in the Qing Dynasty, cheongsam was the basal garment for the Manchus in Northeast China. It was modified in early 20th century to be more suitable and comfortable yet retained the craftwork of traditional ones. Cheongsam greeted its prime time in the 1930s when its irreplaceable role in female garment was established. It was extraordinarily popular with the women in Shanghai for the reason that its slimness and fitness had made it as a perfect choice for the slender and exquisite-stature women in South China. Soon afterwards, it swept the whole country as the favorite garment for Chinese women. Compared with old-style cheongsam, the modified style is more capable of popping out the beautiful curves of a woman and has stood out from the obsolete pattern as a typical representative of Chinese female garment.Cheongsam has been experiencing constant changes with the fashions in different ages. While inheriting the characteristics of traditional cheongsam in details, the new-style one is associated with new features and a great deal of modern design elements in color, cutting and match, which are mainly embodied in the change of the bottom (A-shape, asymmetrical type and picture puzzle type, etc.) as well as diversified materials. Other than meeting aesthetic requirements of young women in China, new-style cheongsam is of great vitality with its easy wearing. As a special traditional garment, cheongsam is of unique aesthetic values and therefore acts as a spokesman of the art of Chinese garment.

National Flower

Tree Peony is regarded as the national flower of China.
The elegance and fragrance of the tree peony has been a favorite in Chinese culture throughout history. Early in Southern and Northern Dynasties there were records of tree peony planting. The technology of planting was largely developed later in Tang Dynasty when tree peony was reputed as "the king of flowers". It is said once in Qing Dynasty, a brother of the then emperor went to Jile Temple to appreciate tree peony, and then wrote inscriptions "National Flower Temple" on the plague of the temple. Therefore it was from early Qing Dynasty that tree peony won the title "National Flower".
Tree peony of China is famous at home and abroad. In Origin of the Species by Darwin, the planting of tree peony in China was quoted as an example to prove the "Theory of Natural Selection and Artificial Selection". Tree peony is widely favored by people all over the world. In the eighth century, tree peony of China was introduced to Japan, in 1330 to France, in 1656 to Holland, and in 1820 to the United States.
By now tree peony is planted and cultivated in more than 20 countries world wide. It is said that in Tang Dynasty, the then Emperor Wu Zetian once got drunk in a winter day and ordered all flowers in the palace to bloom at once. Tree peony refused and was soon driven out of the imperial palace to Luoyang in today's Henan Province. From then on tree peony was reputed as the "Best Flower under Heaven" Tree peonies are upright, tall and handsome, with bright and showy flowers.
The characters of tree peonies are quite similar to that of the Chinese people. Chinese Kungfu

Chinese Kungfu is a very important and unique form of Chinese culture. It can be viewed as both a popular and a classical art, today it is very common and widespread. On the other hand, it has had a very long developed history. Not only did it not decline and disappear as many other facets of pre-modern Chinese culture, it even seems to be gaining much recognition, both in its actual practice and in its relative literature, thetics, philosophy, psychology, etc. it is becoming more and more intriguing. Chinese Kungfu possesses an important and extensive cross-cultural significance. Western culture has, of course, a great influence on the path of Chinese modernization. Meanwhile Chinese culture is also making an impact on Western culture; the popularity of Chinese Kungfu, including Taijiquan, Qigong, etc., is not limited to China but has become a worldwide phenomenon; it thus is a typical example of this reverse impact. As it includes different aspects such as fighting exercise and health care, daily life and academic study, natural state and social scope, research on Kungfu could shed a wholly new light on these interrelated phenomena in an intercultural context. If the research sets out from aesthetics perspective, people can more easily comprehend the characters of the popularity and fashion of Kungfu as "art"; and if Kungfu research starts with the aesthetic method, namely "perceptually comprehensive method", the profoundness namely multi-gradation and multi-orientation of its intercultural significance can be explained in a orrespondingly simply way; thus the research on Kungfu will more effectively oppose the "cultural centered views", so as to raise a new subject and even open up a new path for modern international academia.
1.Beauty of form of Wushu and Chinese Art Many westerners find the action and routines of Chinese Wushu (Martial Art) to be quite spectacular, but also ask if a real Kungfu fight would look so impressive.
2.Beauty of mood of Qigong and the wisdom of Taoist School and Chan sect Chinese Kungfu includes both Wushu and Qigong. In fact, the higher level of most of Wushu (martial arts) is Qigong. Qigong exercise has created aesthetic miracles of life and culture, which modern sports cannot hope to reach.
3. Being beauty of Kungfu and Tao-ontological aesthetics Kungfu-aesthetics studies both the outside beauty of form and the inner beauty of spirit. Moreover, it may involve ontology (being philosophy) of beauty of life.
It is reported that students from martial arts schools practice Wushu at the Songshan Shaolin Temple scenic spot in Dengfeng city of central China’s Henan Province, Oct 23 ,2010. More than 60,000 Wushu students performed Chinese kungfu along the 10-kilometer road leading to the Shaolin Temple to welcome the guests from 56 countries and regions for the Eighth International Shaolin Martial Arts Festival, which began on Friday night.

Lian Pu

Chinese opera performers mainly have two methods of makeup: masks and facial painting. The frequent on-stage change of masks, without the audience noticing, is a special technique, known as changing faces. Opera facial painting falls into four main categories -- personality makeup (facial designs, painted faces or Lian Pu), decorative makeup (decorated faces), mood makeup (changing facial designs), and pictographic makeup (animal-like facial designs). Personality makeup, or Lian Pu, refers to facial designs for Jing and Chou roles. It originated from daily life experience, describing such changes of expression as white for fear, red for shyness, dark for suntan, and sallow for illness. Most facial designs attach great importance to the eyes and eyebrows. Lian Pu has formed a complete system, such as the facial designs of Peking Opera. Red, yellow, white, black, purple, green and silver are the main colors used for facial designs to represent different characters. For instance, red stands for loyal, courageous and upright people; white for sinister and cunning officials; and golden and silvery colors for gods and ghosts. The facial designs for the Jing roles are made by painting, powdering and coloring in the basic forms of Zheng Lian (keeping the basic face pattern), San Kuai Wa Lian (three-section face) and Sui Lian (fragmentary face). These types are widely used to represent generals, officials, heroes, gods and ghosts. The Chou actors can be recognized by the patch of white in various shapes (cube-, date pit-or bat-shaped) painted around the eyes and nose. Sometimes these patches are outlined in black, hence the term Xiao Hua Lian (partly painted face). The Chou roles fall into the following two categories: Wen Chou (civil) and Wu Chou (martial).

The Huangmei Opera

The famous huangmei opera originated in Anqing, (Anhui Province),It is safe to say that most people know more about Huangmei Opera than they do about Huangmei County in Central China's Hubei Province, the birthplace of the popular Chinese folk genre. This is not the least bit surprising, as Huangmei Opera troupes in East China's Anhui Province have for decades been noted for their superb performances, which has resulted in a deeply rooted misunderstanding among audiences. Many folk opera lovers, both within China and outside, have long assumed that not only did Huangmei Opera originate in Anhui Province, but also that Huangmei County is part of Anhui. This misconception has long bothered Zhang Zhixiong, director of the Culture Bureau of Huangmei County. Zhang was once in Beijing to announce the debut of two new Huangmei operas - "Please Take Me as Your Bride" and "Cashing in" - at the Grand Chang'an Theatre .There are some famous huangmei operas known all over the country, such as: “Cowboy and Weaving-girl”, “Emperor's Female Son-in-law” and “Tianxianpei”.

Victoria Harbour

Victoria Harbour is the harbour between the Kowloon Peninsula and the Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong, China. With an area of about 41.88 km2 as at 2004, its natural depth and sheltered location enticed the British to occupy the island of Hong Kong during the First Opium War, and subsequently establish the colony as a trading post. The harbour is famous for its spectacular panoramic views, and is in itself a top tourist attraction. It is a natural focal point of the territory, and considered a crucial natural geographical element for city dwellers. This sense of geographical attachment is most notably demonstrated in recent years, when the Hong Kong government’s efforts to undertake reclamation projects in the harbor were met with widespread popular protests, despite the fact that such work had taken place in the harbor for the past century and a half.

The introduction of Hutongs

Hutongs are narrow streets or alleys, most commonly associated with Beijing, China. The word hutong comes from the Mongolian hottog, meaning "water well." During the growth of towns and cities, wells dug by villagers formed the centres of new communities.
In Beijing, hutongs are alleys formed by lines of siheyuan, traditional courtyard residences. Many neighbourhoods were formed by joining one siheyuan to another to form a hutong, and then joining one hutong to another.
The word hutong is also used to refer to such neighbourhoods. In old China, streets and lanes were defined by width. Hutongs were lanes no wider than 9 metres. Many are smaller; Beijing hutongs range in width from 10 metres down to only 40 centimetres.
Each hutong has a name. Some have had only one name since their creation, while others have had several throughout their history. Names were given to hutongs for various reasons: * Place names, such as Inner Xizhimen Hutong
* Plants, such as Liushu Hutong (Liushu means willow)
* Directions, as Xi Hongmen Hutong (Xi means west)
* Beijing idioms such as Yizi Hutong (a local term for soap is yizi)
* Words with positive attributes, such as Xiqing Hutong (Xiqing means happy)
* Markets and businesses, such as Yangshi Hutong (Yangshi is a sheep market)
* Temples, such as Guanyinsi Hutong (Guanyinsi is the Kuan-yin Temple)
* People's names, such as Mengduan Hutong.
While most Beijing hutongs are straight, Jiudaowan Hutong turns nineteen times. At its narrowest section, Qianshi Hutong near Qianmen (Front Gate) is only 40 centimeters wide.If you have interests in Hutongs, you can visit Beijing Hutongs which is the image of Hutongs.

Lost Horizon_Shangri-al

It was the British writer James Hilton's novel, The Lost Horizon, some 50 years ago, that brought fame to an unknown and uncontaminated place- Shangri-La - a household name. The novel described in great detail the stunning scenery in the area: the azure sky, the breathtaking beauty and the hospitality of unsophisticated people who welcome weary travelers to their homeland. In addition, with the novel and the film coming out,Shangri-la became very in western countries. Lather ,a Chinese named Guo Henian used the name of this place and set up “Shangri-la” Hotel Group which has become one of the most successful hotel group in the world.
At the same time ,people didn’t give up looking the legendary Shangri-la.Up to the end of this century ,they finally have found---After inspecting and proving on many aspects, people found that Diqing Prefecture ,the only Tibetan region in Yunan, China, has stroking similarity with what’s described in the tale regarding either on natural scenery or people’s way of living.
In Tibetan, Shangri- La means a place of good fortune and luck. Located in the midst of three rivers; the torrential Jinsha, Langcang and Nujiang, Shangri-La is a sacred scenic region with distinguishing features. Scores of years have witnessed the failure of numerous efforts to seek out and pinpoint the exact location of this dreamland. A few years ago, after years of persistent searching and researching, the government of Yunnan Province finally declared the discovery of Shangri-La and the long lost horizon was recovered in Diqing, this stunning prefecture in Yunnan Province.

My first vacation in China ,Guilin

Today,We were going to enjoy the world known scenic spots, “Fubo Hill,Reed Flute Cave and Elephant Trunk Hill” Lily said, proudly.Guilin is a city built inside the mountains, very special in few, narrow roads, lower bulidings in China style. it is likely to find a hill turned a corner, next corner is a bridge and so on. Some of these Hills in distance are naturally, some are man-made sculptures, like the Elephant Trunk Hill, drilling work. These sites constitute a very special beautiful city, Guilin. All of the mountains in Guilin is empty, Lily said that how many mountains in Guilin, so as to holes. This is why so many attractions in Guilin are caves because karst terrain. These kind water soluble rocks formated the landscape here. At noon we went to a roadside restaurant, Lily pointed the Guilin style food, Guilin beer fish, Guilin vegetables and pachyrhizus. Of course they are delicious. So pity that Jeff wasn,t here for he is really like this kind food with beer.September 22Li river to Yangshuo.Li river cruise is really a worthwhile trip, the simple, completely pure, crystal Lijiang River with clear reflection of the Mountains shadow, overlapped mountains in distance, exactly likes travelling in the traditional Chinese painting. Sitting in the cabin, blowing breeze, I really hope that this is a dream, not wake up any more.Around 1:00 pm we arrived at Yangshuo, Yangshuo is like a magnified Bar Street, especially the West Street, fulling of bars with tables outside, menu in English, fluent English speaking staff, small hotels with computers. Westerners sit in twos or threes to chat. An unknown small river runs through the streets. After checked in Ai Yuan hotel in West Street, Lily and Chen drove away, gave us one free day to explore Yangshuo. Excitement is much more than worry, because here are many Westerners and the locals speak English too, I am not afraid to get lost.September 23.Lazy day of sitting in the bar with Christian drinking beer in the morning.Afternoon, we rented a bike, and paid a local guide to guide us the scenic spots around. Unfortunately, the happy time is so short, have to back hotel after finished Yulong River Bamboo rafting.September 24Morning, Lily and Chen picked us from hotel, today's destination is the Dragon's Back terraced fields. To be honest, not really looking forward to the terrace, fear of car sickness on nearly 1 hour mountain roads.Terraced Fields is really the witness of the Chinese hard working people. It is really hard to imagine how these people hewed the forest and planted the rice at the peaks since 600 years’ago, really admire these great work, and perhaps only the Chinese can do such hard work, such as the Great Wall. The food here is also very fragrantLocal ethnic cooking likes to burn the rice and chicken in bamboo. So feeling a little bamboo fragrance in eating. This feeling is very difficult to find in other parts of late.Close to evening, we drive back to Guilin. Very grateful to Lily and Chen, Until we come to the line of the security Check, they left. we were really grateful, for you are such a meticulous and thoughtful service, our vacation was really wonderful and comfort.

the Great Wall

It is said that no one can be regarded as a real man unless he stands on the Great Wall. Thus ,if you have a China Tour, the Great Wall of China can not be missed. The Great Wall ,also known as "Ten-thousand-li Long Wall". Li is the long measurement which equals to half one kilometer .So ,it is called "Wanlichangcheng".It's more than 6000 kilometers from the east to the west, in fact ,the total lenght of the Great Wall is 6350 kilometers. From the east to the west ,it across deserts, over mountains, through valleys till at last it reach the sea. Therefore,it is one of the wonders of the world. It has a long history over twenty centries of the Great Wall. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the first part of it has built, then more walls were put up to defend the borders of the different kingdoms during the Warring States Period. Emperor Qinshihuang who is the first emperor in the history put them together to protect the territories from the invasion of the north. The last rebuild was during the Ming Dynasty in the reign of Emperor Yongle .The Great Wall is wide enough at the top for five horses or ten men to walk side by side. There is a watchtower every one hundred meters, which is for keeping watch and warning .Seen from the sky ,the Great Wall looks like a dragon winding up and down .Our Chinese are the offsprings of the Dragon.
It was difficult to build such a wall in the ancient days without any modern machines. All the work was done by hand. The Great Wall was made not only of stones and earth, but the flesh and blood millions of men .Thousands of men died and were buried under the wall they built. There are many stories about the Great Wall ,one of the famous stories known all over the world is the story about Mengjiang. She waited her husband who were forced to build the Great Wall so long ,her husband's death shocked her hard ,and she cried so bitterly that her tears wept one part of the Great Wall.Today the Great Wall has become a place of interest not only to the Chinese but to people from all over the world. It is the crystallization of the hardworking and wisdom of Chinese people.

Mount Tai

Mount Tai, a typical representative of the Chinese famous traditional mountains, is a mountain with a long history and a special historic status. In 1982, it was up into the list of State key scenic spots and was formally listed in the directory of World Natural and Cultural Heritage in 1987. Mount Tai is located in the east of North China Plain and the middle of Shandong province erecting from the Shandong hills. The prominent peak, Yuhuang peak, is 1545 meters high and locates in east 117.6 degree, north 36.16 degree. The south of Mount Tai is higher than the north. Its south foot of mountain begins from Tai'an city and its north foot of mountain stops in Jinan City, the distance between which is 60kms. Many roads and railways such as Taifei, Taixin, Taining, and Taiji meet in Tai'an city, it is very convenience .Mount Tai has a superior geographic location with abundant water and thermal resources, and its climate belongs to the warm temperate zone half wetness monsoon climate. As regard to its historic position, in the ancient times, Mount Tai is a developed region—— in the lower reaches of the Yellow River. As regard to its cultural position, it is the center of Dongyi culture. And its transportation is more superior. Mount Tai is in a key position where the railway from central plains to Shandong peninsula meets the railway connecting the south and north of the east coast. There are no hills between Mount Tai and the capitals in the ancient times as well as the developed regions. This superior condition leads Mount Tai gain the first position among the Five Famous Mountains in China.

Beijing Opera

There are many art forms among the Chinese culture ,also each has its own characteristics. Beijing Opera is the most popular one .Beijing opera features four main types of performers. Performing troupes often have several of each variety, as well as numerous secondary and tertiary performers. With their elaborate and colorful costumes, performers are the only focal points on Beijing opera's characteristically sparse stage. They utilize the skills of speech, song, dance, and combat in movements that are symbolic and suggestive, rather than realistic. Above all else, the skill of performers is evaluated according to the beauty of their movements. Performers also adhere to a variety of stylistic conventions that help audiences navigate the plot of the production. The layers of meaning within each movement must be expressed in time with music. The music of Beijing opera can be divided into the Xipi and Erhuang styles. Melodies include arias, fixed-tune melodies, and percussion patterns. The repertoire of Beijing opera includes over 1,400 works, which are based on Chinese history, folklore, and, increasingly, contemporary life.In recent years, Beijing opera has attempted numerous reforms in response to sagging audience numbers. These reforms, which include improving performance quality, adapting new performance elements, and performing new and original plays, have met with mixed success. Some Western works have been adopted as new plays, but a lack of funding and an adverse political climate have left Beijing opera's fate uncertain as the form enters the 21st century.

Enjoy Beijing in Its Finest

October is perhaps the most glorious month in Beijing. People in Beijing will half-jokingly tell you there are only two season in the capital - the smoggy, sweltering summer and the dry, bitterly cold winter. It’s really that the temperature jumps wildly in spring letting you wear shorts and T-shirts in a few weeks, meanwhile it drops just as far and as almost as swiftly in the fall. But in between these extremes seasons ,Beijing is blessed with two short but fantastic time. when the city's parks and gardens suddenly turn green and its cherry blossoms and magnolias bloom, is brilliant. However October ,when the weather is not cold ,the leaves on the tree-lined streets turn flaming yellow and the skies are often clear and azure, is even more sublime. The most amazing scenery is the red leaves of maple tree of the Fragrant Hill. You can’t miss it.October is the perfect month for people to wheel out their bikes and go for a recreational spin up and down the capital's broad avenues. Or wander around some of the city's parks - clear blue overhead and views of the western hills are a wonderful complement to lakeside willows. The elusive cool-but-not-too-cool temperature makes strolling a joy.In October it's still nice enough to dine outdoors and it's a great time to sample the full range of Beijing cuisine. It's cool enough that sweat droplets won't be gliding down your face as you dig into a hot pot, but still warm enough that a chilled yoghurt-in-clay pot goes down with a refreshing slurp.Scenery and delicious food will give you the different Beijing, enjoy the finest Beijing ,be in love with her.
